Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Clinton Hill is hiring a full-time Lead Veterinary Technician to provide skilled care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients. Salary: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
Schedule: Monday, Thursday and Friday 8:30am to 7:30pm, Saturday 9:30-4:30
Key Responsibilities:
• Performing complex veterinary procedures like anesthesia induction and monitoring, advanced wound care, dental cleaning, dental radiographs and specialized diagnostics.
• Assisting veterinarians during surgeries, including prepping patients, instrument handling, and monitoring vital signs.
• Taking patient histories, recording vital signs, and performing basic lab tests.
• Administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Provide compassionate care to patients and clients
• Conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner.
• Have a passion for training and mentoring new veterinary technicians, including providing on-the-job training and performance evaluations
• Assigning tasks to technicians based on their skill level and clinic needs
• Addressing any concerns or issues within the technician team and ensuring smooth workflow
• Monitoring quality of care provided by technicians and identifying areas for improvement
• Maintaining and controls all logs, reports, and disposal of controlled substances in the hospital
• Ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization procedures are followed
• Contributing to the development and implementation of clinic protocols and standards
• Collaborating with the practice manager on scheduling and staff rotations
• Explaining treatment plans and providing post-operative instructions to clients
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns and providing support throughout the treatment process.
Qualifications:
- Two years of Veterinary Technician experience.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Knowledgeable about common disease states and able to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
